We're one global team but we've got our own stories. Here's what makes us tick.

Where’s the joy in your work?

My role at Square Peg means that I am fortunate to speak with passionate, interesting people every day. I love learning from each conversation I have, and the opportunity to work with Founders and help them grow their teams is very humbling and exciting.

Who has impressed you most with what they’ve accomplished?

It’s a cliché, but my dad, for sure. He was brought up on a livestock farm in rural Czech Republic, and took himself to study in Prague as a teenager where he then got a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and Jet Engine Design from Charles University. He moved to London after graduating, learned English, and built his own companies from scratch while wrangling four young children! He has a very strong work ethic but is so adventurous and really enjoys his life. He is 77 and still runs his business, plays tennis several times a week, skis in Colorado every year, scuba dives often in various exotic locations, and loves flying his small plane to visit his family and friends around Europe (flying is his main passion). He is very funny, kind, and the life of every party!

What has defined your career path?

I tend to think of three things when making decisions in my career: growth, gut feel, and values. I have always taken an open approach to my career, such that I never set myself a trajectory in one industry and instead focussed on how each role and decision would allow me to grow and learn both professionally and personally. At a previous company where I had been working for over 5 years in London, they approached me just before the Christmas holidays with an opportunity to relocate to Sydney to help set up a new client’s TA function. I spent a few days over Christmas deliberating, and 2 stressful but exciting weeks later, I landed here and started my life in Australia. I am still here 5 years later and recently made the move out of banking in to the VC tech start-up world - I was looking for a new challenge in an amazing company, and Square Peg was it.

What's your passion outside of work?

Outside of work, I fill my time with watersports, hiking, travel, volunteering, skiing and snowboarding (more difficult while living in Sydney!) and being a new mum to Bonnie!

What tech do you avoid in your personal life?

Smart watches and fitness trackers- I know most people love these, but for me it takes away some of the joy in movement and it can become quite obsessive with my personality. This can be great for motivation, but over the years I stopped tracking everything and have become so much more relaxed in the way I exercise and go about my day.
