Get to know
We're one global team but we've got our own stories. Here's what makes us tick.
Finish this sentence: Today I’m excited by…
"Learning about something new, and gaining new perspectives on a problem through exceptional Founders’ lens."
What advice do you live by?
"Evolving is life’s greatest accomplishment and its greatest reward.” To me, this means setting 1) audacious goals, 2) failing and learning, 3) finding new approach and achieving, 4) setting more audacious goals, 5) repeat. I try to apply this mindset in venture and focus more on the evolution journey of a young company - more on the Hows and Whys than the Whats.
What’s my favourite question for the founder(s)?
"Why did you decide to make it your life’s work to solve [insert problem]? The most important thing I learnt during my time as an Operator is that building something new is incredibly hard, and may not be for most people. Along the journey of company building, almost everything will break and it helps to have a strong why to power you and the business through inevitable tough times. Additionally, a strong sense of mission attracts and motivates high calibre talent to join you on the ride. This maximises the likelihood of success."
Where's the joy in your work?
"Meeting Founders who see themselves as missionaries to build something new in order to solve a massive problem, simply because they can’t tolerate the status quo. I have tremendous respect for these brilliant people who take up the risk of building something new - learning unique insights from them, understanding their whys behind the passion, and earning the privilege to support them along the way make what I do day to day incredibly enjoyable."
Why Southeast Asia?
"Ever growing pool of exciting talent, massive impactful problems to be solved in the region that can improve 100M+ lives and 10M+ businesses in success, and the growing abundance of capital that chase this. All of these feed into a virtuous loop for Southeast Asia’s tech ecosystem that make it a great space to be in. My team mate Ed wrote a brilliant piece on this which sums it up more eloquently than I can - check it out!"
