What was the greatest lesson an early job taught you?
Do not be afraid to ask questions. If I had not asked if there was a faster way to copy a 100-page trust deed on my first day as a KPMG cadet, I may still be photocopying that document today.
Where did you learn the most in your career?
Continuous learning in a role (and in life) is an absolute must. I find that I learn most when I'm challenged by tasks I have no prior knowledge of or experience in. Working at a PropTech startup, BrickX, was so conducive to this. No week was the same, even in an accounting role with regular reporting requirements; our work was collaborative and engaged in areas that were completely removed from my core role. I hadn't anticipated it would involve direct customer service, promotional video and other awesome things, but I'm so glad it did.
What experience do you wish you could relive?
I wish I could relive Beyoncé's performance at Coachella 2018 every day.
What's your greatest frustration?
I am a very frustrated singer. As much as I try and channel my inner Mariah I cannot quite hit the mark. So close, but not quite.
What technology couldn't you live without?
I tend to embrace most tech, however, there is an old school piece of technology that I cannot part with: my calculator. I love excel but will always double check calculations with my Casio.
Who is your greatest mentor?
My mum is my greatest mentor. She arrived in Australia 28 years ago from the Philippines. She juggled working full time, studying at university (and then her CPA accounting qualification) and two children. My hero! I seek her counsel in everything I do.
